Fishing Logs

I've been in a discouraging fishing slump so far this year, which has me throwing around the idea of beginning to keep fishing logs as tool to gain some knowledge.
Does anyone on here log information from their fishing trips to help learn patterns? If so, what means and methods do you use to organize this information?
My thoughts were using an excel spreadsheet so I could sort by and graph different pieces of information as the list grows.

I keep a journal that includes date, temp, sky, wind, weather, water temp and level, location (and time at location), baits used and what worked, and quick notes on trends I've noticed building up, such as that years spawn pattern playing out, late spring, long winter, etc..
I review those notes a few weekends before that time of year the following year and see if it applies, and start from there, capture any changes if things shifted since the previous year, etc..
You sound like you are trying to get fancy though.

absolutely,
I fish saltwater so I track temp, pressure, tide, & moon phase. Been doing for two years now and is finally starting to pay off in seeing patterns.

I do this. not as much as I used to.
I have a 44 day chronicle of fishing everyday out of Bason's in Nov/Dec of 2010.

I keep all of the information that has already been provided, and I also record how many hours I run my outboard motor on each trip. I also document in my log any mechanical problems and when my motor is serviced. Others may keep this information elsewhere, but I find that it is easier to record in my fishing log since the info is for my benefit anyway.

I've been keeping a fishin log since 2001, love goin back through it. Basically helps me keep up with particular areas and patterns to fish based on times of the year . Fun to read back on old trips too
Never too late to start keeping a log, gotta start at some point

I've thought about doing an excel spreadsheet with:
Barometric pressure
Temp
Water temp
Clarity
Weather
Moon phase
Clarity
Color baits per fish
Graph all that and see if there's a correlation

I started keeping one last year.
I include:
Weather
Outside Temp
Water Temp
Water Clarity
Barometric Pressure
Total Caught/Keepers Caught
How many caught on each lure
ETA Depth I caught them

Got a pretty extensive log. The one thing that's given the ost feedback is the weather in the 48 hours leading up to the day I fished. Historical tides are online so I don't write those down. I keep mine in a spreadsheet format but I know a dude who keeps one so detailed it could be mistaken for the almanac from back to the future.

I have been doing it for years. You can purchase small books and record all your information in it. It is great to look back and see your when and where from previous trips.

i started back in 04. actually built a web app to track it but never got to transfer all the data from word to it.
Honestly i like just reading through it cause it actually triggers the memory of that trip in your head when you read it. Pretty weird how that works. It does somewhat help with seasonal patterns, but over time I've learn to try not to fish too much on history. Places change and so do the fish. Try to fish the moment and then fall back on the history stuff.
