I have 500 - 8.5x5.5 postcards (1-time mailout), already labeled and ready to send to potential customers. What's the least expensive method for postage? I'm hand-stamping these. Seems that the USPS will only do $.49/piece on these. Not interested in getting the pre-sort license, etc. These are NOT time sensitive, so something slower than 1st Class would be OK.

Thanks in advance...

I don't know, but I think unless you deal with the pre-sort you are going to deal with USPS std rates. All of the delivery services charge more for letters so that probably won't work either.

This make me think of this

“Postcards…the dry hump of marketing strategies.”

sorry for OTing it up. But that segment is hilarious.

those qualify for postcard rate of $.35 if they are not in envelopes. That would be your cheapest option.
nevermind I see they make you stay under 6.5 x 4.5 for the $.35 cent rate. You are looking at $.49 each. sorry.

Yep - I think that sums it up. I really wish the USPS would come up with a slow-boat delivery method where they could take as long as 10 days to deliver and charge a cheaper rate. I'm sure there's a reason why they don't....

Curious: why spend $250 to mail 500 pieces when you could email for nothing? Or do you not have email addresses on these potential customers? Paper mail is tossed almost immediately by nearly every recipient...while a decently formatted email can at least contain a link to a website and allow you to track how many people open it & then click on subsequent links.

Lots of debate between the two. Just Google it and you'll see why. I like it because (presumably) somebody looks at instead of send it to the trash folder or getting whacked by spam hammers. It's tangible - they can touch and feel it - and it's more personal. Also, finding mailing addresses is more precisely targeted because email addresses are hit or miss - and reliable lists are expensive. (These are prospective customers - not current customers). Mail Chimp and Constant Contact are also getting increasingly picky about how you harvested the email addresses. I spent that last 3 days extracting over 600 mailing addresses from websites based on precise search methods. Postcards also have a longer shelf-life and stay within arms length of the recipient. I just prefer it to email.

With just a bit of folding, done and done.

With every interaction, the USPS confirms that they really really deserve to become extinct.

The issue is that for $250 you can spread a gigantic net via email relative to snail mail. I think industry matters here... Some folks are old school and appreciate the hand written note.

Direct mail is highly effective.

Not sure where you are located but there are pre-sort companies or printing companies also that can mail these out for you. With a minimum of 200 pieces you can mail it out at standard rates rather than first class. They could even print the indicia (permit stamp in top right corner) on your mailpiece and send it out through their permit. You would save money and time.
