NCFOM - Larry Mahan quote?
Posted by AlxTgr

I was watching this for about the tenth time last week. The boot store dialogue caught my attention. I swore I heard, "Got a pair of Larry Mahans...shoulder size 11?" That made no sense to me, so I did some searches and sure enough, there were some hits. OTOH, some searches result in "Larry Mahans in black" or some such. If it is "...shoulder, size 11", what does that mean? Model?

Larry Mahan was an old rodeo cowboy who had a popular line of Western clothing and boots.
"Shoulder" refers to the type of leather used in the boot.
So he's buying a pair of Larry Mahan boots with shoulder leather, size 11.
And I think that scene comes from the book.

I sometimes get Larry Mahan and Walt Garrison mixed up.

They were the two big rodeo commercial guys (even though Garrison was more famous as a Dallas Cowboy).
