First off, props to Shaq for wanting to do something like this for BR.
Glad he's representing LSU and Louisiana.
The question you asked about funding for this is a very legit question and I'm not upset at all by it. It's a question I'm interested in reading discussion on. But that's not going to happen here. This thread is too emotionally charged for discussion of the sort and people really don't want to get into the nuts and bolts of Shaq's plans. People are not rational. It's sort of well you know people feel that way but its what it is.

It's a good day for the people of Louisiana and LSU. I absolutely love Shaq, he's a hell of a guy. Great representation of the state. However, I would also like to hear more on the logistics behind the funding and ect. I believe it can be done privately but we shall see. I would love to volunteer at the hospital and can't wait to hear more about the project in the upcoming future

No, it's not that he asked how it'd be paid for. It's his childish tantrum about taxes and being against public funding. It's a children's hospital and he wants to take an ideological stand. He got called out on it and crawfished. I along with others in this thread know firsthand what it's like to be around gravely sick kids and need a children's hospital and we are in no mood for that shallow idiotic tea bagger bullshite. I probably agree with him on a lot of spending issues too but it takes a moron to lump in sick kids with pork spending.

Public. I doubt Jindal agrees to spend state funds for this and I'm 100% against John Q. Public's monies used for this.
Oh really douche bag? You tell me how I or anyone else interpreted this wrong. You've been called out on it by more people than just myself. The difference between you and I is if it helps kids in any way shape or form, I'd be fine with 100 percent of my tax dollars going to support it.

Seems like the kind of guy to criticize the casket choice at a funeral.

The guy's got the biggest heart in the world. He's goofy as all hell, but what a nice guy.

Shaq, always a class act with all the Aaron Hernandez type crap in pro sports its good to see an athlete give back. He is a great ambassador for LSU and the state of Louisiana as a whole!

Shaq is definitely a very positive symbol for Louisiana and I'm proud that he's still in touch with the people here. Hopefully he can fulfill his dream and make this a reality.

How much of the bill is Shaq footing? It sounds like his name will be on the building and operated by OLOL. The "free" comment is troubling. Nothing is free.
Naysayer even on something like this?
Ever heard of St. Jude?
