my wife has the ruger sr22 and loves it. The sr22 and Walther P22 are nearly identical.

I have both of these and I would recommend going with the Ruger.
The P22 seems to be much pickier with the type of ammo but the Ruger will shoot anything.

It's cheaply made .22, it will however last for tens of thousands of rounds. The rifling will disappear and turn into a smooth bore pot metal pistol. You will have Malfunctions with the P22, I experienced 1 per every 100 rounds on average with all types of ammo. The dirtier the pistol the more frequent the failures. I still enjoy shooting the P22 though.

If you shoot 1911's maybe look into ATI/Sig 1911 22's.

Ruger Mark III' are fantastic, accurate and well made. Their downside is taking the pistol down for cleaning, it's a pain. Plenty of models to choose from and after market parts.

Browning buck marks are good to go.

Most common pistols have a .22 variant or conversion kit. I suggest getting a .22 version of your carry piece or HD piece so you can practice more with that type of pistol for cheap and get used to the controls and handling.

I own a Walther P22 and a Ruger SR22

Since I purchased the Ruger, the Walther has not left the safe.
The Walther is picky with ammo (as other posts have noted.) It does fine with CCI, but other brands are inconsistent.

I have had zero problems with the Ruger.

Hope this helps.

I had the Walther P22, it felt great in my hand but it jammed quite a bit. I've looked at the sig mosquito but I hear they jam just as much as the P22. Don't get me wrong, even though it jammed I loved my P22 up until the day some A-hole stole it out of my truck.

I love my walther but dont put any crap in it and keep it clean or it will not cycle.

Ruger is a beast and shoots all the crap ammo well

Inferior to the SR22 and Mark 3 or 22/45.
