Is it too much to ask the wise ones of HT to wait a year or two before we cast him into the recycle bin?
i think most on here realized he was a project when we drafted him. i expected at least a year or two before he started to reach his potential. i really believe he could've benefited from another year in college but i'm not even close to calling him a bust. rational ones had realistic expectations for his growth period

He gets the the rack, and shoots at a decent clip from 3. Is it too much to ask the wise ones of HT to wait a year or two before we cast him into the recycle bin?

Improving on his free throws would go a long ways to his development.

Like you said, he gets to the rack, which means fouls. You can't shoot 55% at the line.

I now realize he's a career bench player with very limited offensive skills

He's shooting 35% from 3 so he only needs a little improvement there. If he could hit FTs at 80% and learn to finish he'd actually be pretty good. I said before the draft that I was concerned that a coaches son was so bad at FTs, so I do wonder how fixable his problems are, but he's really close to being a useful player. The question is can hard work give him what he's missing.

i shoot better from the free throw line than he does, and i've never played organized basketball in my life. dude needs to spend all summer at the stripe and fix that shitty FT %

The amount of hate he gets on the internet is just insane. I've never seen anything like it with any player this young. Go look at RealGM...every thread about the Hornets devolves into a how much Austin Rivers sucks and that he should die thread.

I'm going to give him 3 years like any player.

Yeah but most of his 3's have only come because he had really high confidence at that moment. Like he had just hit a couple easy buckets or was having a good game. He really is not a great 3 pt shooter. just look at his form. he needs a lot more improvement on his shooting form(push that elbow in) and if he starts to attack the bucket more often he will start to knock a few shots down. His free throw % will go up just by his work ethic. I remember even hearing the guys on the Atlanta feed talk about how Rivers was out shooting free throws 2h before tip off.
