When Does Benson Ever Stand Up for His Team/Investment?

I don't know what is happening behind the scenes, but either Benson has no power at all or he is incapable of standing up for the Saints. Why wasn't he out negotiating for his coach/players? Why isn't he telling Goodell to let Payton back now that the season is over?
I really don't get it. It is as though the Saints took this unprecedented punishment to their organization lying down all the while claiming that the offenses never took place.
Why doesn't Benson seem to have any power with the NFL after being an owner for 27+ years?

His entire management team lied repeatedly to the nfl. I don't think he has many chips to play.

That's some BS narrative that was never backed up with any documentation.

And he then rehires them and gives them raises?
If they really lied or if it was a big deal, then rehiring them seems counterproductive.
I get taking the punishment, but he has not been able to reduce it one bit. It just seems odd.

There's Jones, Snyder, Mara, Kraft, and Rooney.
And then there's everyone else.
And then there's everyone else.

I know it's all , but I swear he got the Hornets on the cheap for his silence.

And neither of them could do shite when Goodell fricked their caps up for making a bunch of "discouraged" roster moves in the uncapped year that, mind you, the NFL approved at the time. I'm sure Benson voiced his displeasure with Goodell in private, but going on some tirade wouldn't have helped our chances of getting our 2nd round pick back.

Really there's just Mara, Kraft, and Rooney. Goddell hit Jones and Snyder hard for not colluding like he wanted them to.

Its one of the worlds most exclusive 32 member clubs.

Mara
Kraft
Jones
Snyder

Yeah, but you didn't see the Cowboys lose their GM when he ignored the collusion.

After Payton is finally officially reinstated. . . . . .
Someone in the organization needs to put pressure on the league office to get our #2 pick back. The whole Bounty fiasco found as unsubstantiated by the former commissioner and a federal judge that the commissioner overstepped his boundaries. If they won't comply, I would go on the offensive about it in the media. All out blitz on the commissioners office. The office is weak right now over punishment backlashes. (Bounty gate and the recent overturning of the Seahawks CB suspension).
That pick is crucial in building our defense this year. We need it back in the worst way. We deserve it due to what Goddell did to us this year, essentially neutering us and making it near impossible to make the playoffs.

The Saints are a sacrificial lamb for the league. "Standing up" isn't fighting Goodell, it's fighting the other owners. I seriously doubt Benson has any desire to alienate himself and go the Al Davis route.

According to Vilma's attorney the NFL "warning" consisted of an NFL security person asking some lower level member of the coaching staff about their "bounty" program and the NFL security person was told that the Saints didn't have one, because they didn't because PPP =/= PPI. The version the media was given to run with made it sound like Goodell told Payton and Loomis personally to stop or there'd be consequences, but Ginsberg's account, which is based on evidence in the case, not propaganda leaked to the media, is very different.

I recall reading where Benson tore into Goodell at an owners meeting, will see if I can find this.

The haters don't care about this. Any time this is brought up they leave the thread only to come back a couple days later stating their stale debunked argument in another thread.
