The once proud LA Tech's women's basketball team scores 26 points tonight...

in their 77-26 loss at Texas A&M. The Lady Techsters had amassed a total of 6 points at halftime.
The 26 points is just slightly more than half the amount of points averaged by the Tech football team (51.5 pts. per game) during its 9-3 exhibition season this year.
Karma may be a bitch, but piling on and kicking someone when they are down due to their own frick up is fun

I know A&M promised them that they could score 24 PTs by halftime, Tech failed to get a written agreement. It's LSU's fault, somehow.

I can still remember them being in the Final Four almost every year in the early 90's. What happened?

Two primary reasons:
-Other schools women's basketball programs got better
-They let one of the best coaches in women's basketball walk away because she wanted one more year on her contract offer.
LA Tech women's basketball is a thing of the past now and their administration's own arrogance is primarily to blame.

They actually were more dominant in the 80's, but to the point, starting in the late 80's, more than 5 schools started caring about women's basketball. Once schools with more money started giving a shite, LA Tech got totally passed by on the highway as if they were standing still.

Leon Barmore, 3rd greatest Women's Coach Ever, retired. His protege, Kim Mulkey, wanted one more year on her contract than Tech would give her. She went to Baylor. Tech burned, Baylor profited. Oh and then Barmore went to Waco to help her out.

I can almost understand though....Mulkey currently makes in the neighborhood of $1 million to coach women's basketball at Baylor. Sonny Dykes currently makes $450,000 to coach football at LA Tech. Over the long haul, there is NO way in hell that Tech could have afforded Mulkey.

but they showed really good fundamentals

I can see why that would be an untenable situation for Dykes, but if he bitches about the pay difference, you just ask him if he could make $1MM somewhere else.

If they would have gave her what she wanted to begin with she would have stayed for less than 1mil. It was Tech's frick up for letting her go.

JJ27 is exactly right. Seems like Tech has been making bad calls for years now.
