Not the most interesting read. But I find it interesting how upset people seem to be about this.

Opinions/thoughts/etc?

A New Yorker's plan to redevelop a long-abandoned corner at North Rampart Street and Esplanade Avenue in the French Quarter into a restaurant similar to those he operates in New York and California is running into fierce community opposition. A website named "Save Our Neighborhood" says the proposed Cuban restaurant will have a capacity of more than 400 people resulting in excessive noise, parking nightmares and safety hazards for pedestrians.

Yet they don't care that Nola Gourmet To Go is right there? Isn't that a chain? That area of town should be happy to see a business opening there.

The NIMBY folks crack me up. They should be happy someone wants to invest and put in a good business right there.

Seriously though, I see why people wouldn't want a block party type place on that corner, but man they need something there...such an eyesore.

Lived in the quarter and cant blame someone for not wanting a new 400 person place next door. There are already a ton of headaches for residents. Definitely a unique neighborhood.

I live right across the street from it. I'm happy. Glad they are doing something with that quarter. People are freaking out that there will be no parking, but most people are going to park on rampart anyway. It's one more place I can walk to and drink
