I don't really think they are. I think they're pissed that he thought because he's a popular television personality he could open a huge hyped up restaurant in NY taht serves shitty food and nobody would call him out on it.
yeah, i agree, and they went after him, it was just the way it was written , in whatever style that was, seemed kinda immature or something, idk.

To be frank, I don't knwo why the NYT would even review that place. I doubt any of their readers are going to make a visit.
Fieri would have gotten a lot less criticism if he'd opened a place on a scale like those he features on his show. It would have been easier to control the quality of the product and the service and he'd have a much smaller target on his back. Of course, he'd have a lot less upside financially too, but maybe that tells us something about what he was trying to accomplish with this place.

Yeah. I'm surprised NYT even reviewed it. Makes them look pretty bad for muckraking.
I could see the Post running something like this and using overtones but not the NYT, for the reputable newspaper they are "supposed" to be

yeah exactly you don't see the times reviewing the red lobster in times square, same difference really.
but it worked out, if you didn't know guy had opened a restaurant you know now.

Given how well your last troll thread about hating Fieri went, I'm not surprised you'd bring this shite back up for round 2

Well, that was quick! The lovely folks at Zagat put their reputations as Serious Food People on the line and visited Guy’s American Kitchen + Bar for lunch today. It’s the very first day that Guy Fieri’s Times Square monster restaurant is open for business, so the experience is probably going to be very different over time. But how did James Mulcahy find it?
Not only are there misspelled words all over the place (a sign at the entrance which says “Welcome 2 Flavor Town” is only the beginning), a big percentage of the menu is comprised of puns. “Guy-Talian Nachos,” for instance, does not have actual pieces of Guy Fieri, but mashes up his love of pizza toppings with his love of fatty nachos.
The review comes with pictures, and their verdict? Though it’s nowhere near the highest quality of food available in NYC, “tourists could do a lot worse with some of the other joints in Times Square.” We heartily agree, and warn people to avoid the Times Square Applebee’s at all costs, where we’ve known many friends to fall ill after their parents came in from out-of-town and dragged them there, refusing to eat fancy frou-frou stuff.

Everything on the menu could be awful and people would still go, see red lobster and olive garden as examples
1st thing you've said that is on point, your assesment of those two places is Money.

Congratulations to Jordan Sargent for jumping on this internet bandwagon in quest of a piece of the Pete Wells pie.
What a douche.
What a douche.

My friend in NY went last night and said it was worse than expected. Then again, he's a snob so I take it with a grain of salt.

Out of all the restaurants in NYC, why would a snob choose Guy Ferry's?

because the NYT review had the immediate effect of eliciting everyone's curiosity to see if it was really THAT bad

I betcha that article has made the place more popular.

Absolutely. He should be thanking them

No such thing as bad awareness? I'll probably try it next time I'm in the city. At least one of his extreme kickin' apps. We should celebrate idiocracy.
I like Guy's show and watch it more for the hole in the walls he visits than him. Bourdain and Zimmern on the other hand are actually entertaining personalities.
