I heard on WWL this morning that Charter is still in negotiations to acquire the rights to broadcast FS New Orleans. I don't have Charter, but thought I'd pass this along. They only other cable carrier they mentioned was Cox. I was under the impression that they were past the negotiation point by now... really hope we can get some kind of concrete info soon.

Charter was the villain previously and apparently would like to be the villain again.

Im pretty sure cox is the only provider that is currently on board. They are still negotiating with Charter, Directv, Dishtv & cableone.

It seems pretty simple to me, drop Fox Sports South and add Fox Sports New Orleans.....but....Fox Sports is probably trying to make them take/pay both.

Directv

I hope they don't encounter any problems. I don't foresee any of the satellite providers having problems adding FSNO

From what I understand, only Cox currently has a deal.

The WWL report made it sound like only Cox is for sure right now. I hope and expect that everything will be done in time, but it is very annoying that we are about 3 weeks from opening night, and have very little info.

IIRC they cut a deal when they decided not to bid against Fox, so they have been signed up since the beginning. If it's not settled now I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't happen until the last second. If the last 2 years have taught us anything it's that multimillion dollar deals don't happen until people are pushed up against a deadline and someone blinks.

Benson needs to step up here. Pay a little more to make more in the long run...not that he will be with us much longer.

He already did. Before FS entered the discussion the rumors were that the Hornets would be getting another $8 - $16 million per year on their new TV deal. Instead they only got maybe $1 million more per year going with Fox because they would provide better distribution. I'm not saying it's guaranteed that everything will be done by October 31st, but the way these things shake out I wouldn't be surprised if the last week of October you started hearing about the deals getting done.
