Looking to take a 10-14 day trip to the French Riveria in early May.

What are the top places to stay, things to do, wineries, fly in to, trains, travel, etc?

Currently looking at:
Menton
Eze
Monaco
Villefranches
Nice
Cannes
Saint Tropez
Marseille

Where else?
Thanks!

I have been to 2, 3, 4 and 5 on your list.

Definitely go to Eze. We loved it there. Beautiful little town with one main street going up the hill.

Villefranchaces is scenic.

A lot of those places you mentioned are within a half hour’s drive of each other so you will want to pick a base and do day trips. INice and Monaco are the two big cities. I would probably pick Monaco.

We stayed in Nice for home base a couple of years ago. Good town, lots of sites, restaurants….

Visited Eze for day trip to Frangonard factory. Wife wanted to visit but combined with city was fun day.

Boat trip to St Tropez with stop in Cannes. Went to Pampelonne Beach. Good time!

Avignon is dreamy, research it to see if you can skip it with good conscious.

I don’t know the area east of Toulon well, but I know the area of Marseille, Cassis, Aix-en-Provence, Arles, Avignon, Orange, Nimes, Gordes, Route des Crêtes, etc pretty well having worked just west of Marseille on and off over 3 years. They all have their charm and are worth a visit.

Mostly took day trips to those places on my weekends off. I definitely think the calanques near Cassis, Palais des Papes in Avignon, the Pont du Gard, Roman theater in Orange, the Fontaine de Vaucluse, etc are all worth a trip. Just depends on what you like to do. I like seeing old churches, Roman ruins, hiking, and enjoying nice meals and drinks/coffee.

I’m not a fan of Nice, but my view is probably colored because my car was broken into there.

Do you remember what charter you did the boat trip through? Thanks!

Do not miss Le Mas Provencal Restaurant in Eze.

Monaco is awesome. It's all great over there.
