If you weren't at the Lake Charles Championship Sunday you missed some good golf with a great finish. Trevor Werbylo wins in 3 playoff holes over Kim at -18.

Golf as an in person spectator sport is terrible.

hot take there but I tend to agree. Been to three PGA events including two PGA championships and the entire time I really hated being on a sweet golf course.. with no clubs.. it's torture

Depending on course can be physically demanding too. Not to mention very hard to follow the ball, not sure what the scores are, 3-5 people deep making it hard for kids/shorter people to see. Very little, if any interaction from the players makes you feel alienated as well.

Being at the 2014 US Opens, at Pinehurst, was brutal. Dry and hot those two weeks.
The Masters on the other hand. Perfect spectator scenario.

The Masters is ideal.
I’ve been to US Open at Pinehurst and PGA Championship at Shoal Creek.
The Masters does everything perfectly.

Agreed that everything to do with the masters has been well thought out and executed perfectly. However, watching the masters in person is brutal. Trying to watch any of the top 50 players is impossible unless you get there at 6am so you’re stuck watching a guy shoot 80 just to be able to watch it up close. Will choose to watch the masters on TV over going anytime.

I go to watch golf and look at the talent.

you have to be the only person on this board with this opinion. I only went for a practice round, but the Master's was my favorite golf experience. I also didn't really follow a group, just posted up on a hole.

I was there for the Sunday round that year. Played the course a few months earlier.

Posting up on a hole is good if you can get a front row seat. The issue with that is you don't get to enjoy the course, you're stuck on one hole all day long. The beauty about Augusta is the entire course, not just one hole. I have been 4 times so everything i've wanted to see, i have seen. I would rather go to the Seniors Tour (ahem...champions tour) than go to the Masters. Me and some buddies, sitting on my patio, watching on TV is better to me than walking the course.
My golf club has a Masters event, where we play in a 100% HDCP stroke event and then we choose a player from the Masters as our "partner". Our combined score is what counts. So i'll be playing in that and have a golf cart phone mount that i'll use to watch the actual Masters.

in 2015 i went to the british at the old course and set up shop one day in the grandstands by 17 green. you could see 4-5 holes in those stands. it was perfect viewing.
