Does it list the issues, by chance

One of the major things that pissed Payton off was when Loomis started working for the Pelicans. He doesn’t like people to not be 100% focused on the Saints

Translation: Never close any doors, especially on the high profile and high paying jobs in your field. But seriously, two shitty family setups where he'd have less power than he does here so nah.

Which is why Ireland brought in January 2015 then allowed to bring his own guys into the scouting department in 2016. It was a win-win for the entire organization. The Saints have had solid drafts since Ireland & his guys have been at the helm. Payton has gotten good to great players to coach on the field while Loomis continues to work his magic on the financial side.

-TV execs pushing this narrative

Gotta keep the big market franchises like the Bears, Giants & Cowboys in the news cycle with seasons over with. Gotta have something to engage those fanbases to listen in to or watch their shows or read their poo articles.

Why does Sean Payton not put a statement out squelching these rumors?

It's like a majority of fans don't even understand Sean's personality. He's old school & believes in keeping matters in house. He doesn't believe in playing situations out in the media. Payton only spoon feeds the media with what he feels like they should know. The situation with MT13 is the perfect example. He addressed the private meeting he had with Thomas prior to the preseason game against the Ravens then didn't bring Thomas back up again until his set back with his ankle.

Also mentioned that the Bears aren’t hiring Jeff Ireland

The Bears sound like a structural mess between the owner & team president Ted Phillips. Also, it's a serious gamble for any head coach & GM to go hitch their wagon to a team that has placed their offense in the hands of Justin Fields for at least the next 3 years plus the fact the Bears currently lack draft collateral since they traded up to get Fields in the last draft. It seems like Fields & the lack of draft capital are a sticking point for GM & head coaching candidates. Maybe Ireland realized this & bombed the interview purposely.

Seriously though, the Colts Assistant GM Ed Dodds turned down a second interview with the Bears for their GM position.

quote:

In his column for The Athletic, Sando ranked the available coaching vacancies in the NFL, with the Bears ranking fourth among the eight teams looking for new head coaches. After getting input from “five NFL team execs and coaches,” Sando said that one NFL head coach told him the idea of trading Fields might make the Bears’ opening more appealing.

quote:

Sando wrote: “The Bears changed their structure so the next GM will report directly to ownership instead of through team president Ted Phillips, but one exec suggested there are zero guarantees the situation would function that way practically. Another called Chicago’s ownership ‘low-end neutral’ while noting that the Bears ‘are just kind of there’ and distanced from their tradition. ‘From a roster construction standpoint, Chicago is a very desirable location if you ask me, including the fact that you could possibly trade (Justin) Fields,’ said a coach who analyzed the Bears’ roster but did not vote in this poll.”

The Bears don’t have any first-round draft picks this season, and their limited draft capital (they have second- and third-round picks in addition to two fifth-rounders and one sixth-round selection in 2022) is an issue that could keep some potential coaching candidates at bay. But would the team really be willing to trade its franchise QB after taking him 11th overall just one year ago?

quote:

The chances of Chicago trading Fields are slim to none. He’s the most exciting QB prospect the team has had in decades (LOL), and he won the respect of the locker room immediately. Trading him away to start all over with only a 33-year-old Nick Foles on the roster isn’t a move the Bears are going to make, particularly considering 2022 doesn’t boast a strong draft class.

The Bears spoke with Dodds on Monday when they also talked to Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus.

They liked Eberlus enough to invite him back for a second interview sometime next week, according to NFL Network. However, Dodds pulled out of the process after his first interview, Tom Pelisero reported.

quote:

When a candidate withdraws it can lead to all sorts of speculation.

Here are popular theories:

1. Dodds didn't like the front office structure with the GM now answering to board chairman George McCaskey. It was McCaskey who labeled himself a fan.

2. The Bears already named a second interview for a head coaching candidate and Dodds as GM wants to be the one calling the shots and hiring the coach.

3. Dodds has something better lined up. He interviewed in Jacksonville already, as well.

4. Bill Polian's questioning included something Dodds didn't like, or McCaskey's. On AM-670's Mully & Haugh Show Wednesday NFL analyst and former front office man Michael Lombardi offered up the thought that the Bears committee doing the hiring has been asking the wrong type of questions for these interviews. Lombardi cited contact he's had with those who are being interviewed without naming names. With Polian involved, this would be surprising at least for the head coach job. Polian has had plenty of experience and success hiring coaches. For the GM spot it's a different issue because Polian didn't hire GMs. He did have his son Chris working under him as GM at the end in Indianapolis and then both were fired.

5. He didn't like the money, although this doesn't seem likely as he was doing a preliminary interview without cash a serious talking point usually at this stage.

6. He doesn't like Justin Fields as a quarterback and didn't like being told he had to try to build around Fields. It might shock some Bears fans but there are GMs who didn't like Fields because they thought he held the ball too long before throwing.

Please trade this guy for a few 1sts or something. It's time for a change. NO is soft as a baby tissue in the playoffs. We'll never win anything again with him as coach here. He'll be the best regular season warriors ever and continue to shite the bed in the playoffs. Payton is like the coaching version of Peyton Manning best regular season QB ever but had to win 2 SBs with his defense bailing him out in the playoffs.

Tired of looking at Zoolander on the sidelines bamboozled in the playoffs when he plays a defense with a pulse. I think he's a good coach but he has his limits and he's the problem every playoff for us.
