Given the attrition he had to work with in his 1st season as a DC, when you look at what he was able to do with this defense, he single-handedly kept us in games we shouldn't have been in.

Plus it's important to keep some stability wherever you can during a HC change. The players are obviously comfortable with him and have bought in to his style. I'd give him a shot, I think he deserves it.

Unless there's an elite DC out there to be had I keep Daronte. His final 4 games he kept Bama, Ark, ULM and A&M to under 300yds and 20 pts per game. That's an impressive feat with starting guys like Evans at CB and Fonua at DE. Even Cam Lewis was making big plays that I haven't seen in a long time.

1. He had to get advise from a opposing coach that just thrashed his defense to adjust.

2. Bama’s offense is anemic by their standards. Auburn held them down as much as lsu. They are not a great offensive team.

He improved, but let’s be real. He’s still not a very good DC for an LSU level job.
