I want to plan a romantic trip for my wife and I. We've talked about the redwoods and driving up Hwy. 101. Can anyone give me a few places to see or places stay recs. Money isn't a object.

TY for your time.

Not quite northern California but check out Healdsburg, CA - cool downtown area with tons of wineries and nice restaurants.

Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve is a short drive

Hotel Healdsburg, Healdsburg Inn and H2 Hotel are all good places to stay

Ferndale, CA. It's been too long since we did that trip to give exact info. We visited several groves form Muir Wood outside SF to the Oregon line. Redwood NP has several units along or not far off 101. Also went to Lasen NP, just after they plowed the roads. Had 15 ft walls of snow once you got up high. This was in early June.

we are looking at a SF>redwoods>lassen>Yosemite>SF loop for next year. Also, NorCal is a contender for our retirement landing point as well

Once you get to Medford, Crater Lake is an easy 1.5 hr drive. Worth a trip for sure.

I've heard Jebediah Smith state park is one of the best places to view Redwoods, and the nearby southern Oregon coast is very scenic as well. You can do a loop from Medford, Oregon and maybe even go over to Crater Lake.

But a more romantic option might be to stay closer to the Bay Area.

Check out VRBO for cottages along the coast. Beautiful scenery sitting atop cliffside views overlooking the coast. Check out village of Mendocino. Beautiful small town sitting on bluffs overlooking the Pacific. The coastal drive is breath taking. Drive up thru Giant Redwood National Park. Drive as long as you want. Little traffic and beautiful views. Fly into SF Bay area and drive thru Sonoma wine country on your way up there.
