If you are a golfer, plenty of quality courses, and inexpensive.

Went to Nova Scotia 18 years ago. Took ferry over to Prince Edward Island afterwards. Quaint, oyster bar type place served lobster. You got a plastic gallon bucket of mussels with butter, a salad, a bowl of clam chowder, a whole lobster (easily 3-5 lbs), a slice of pie for dessert. Tea and lemonade were complimentary (adult beverages were extra). All that for $21 Canadian. With the exchange rate, it was $15 US. Unreal! Ate there multiple nights.
If you want a romantic location, head North of San Francisco. Check out Mendicino. It's a picturesque village on the coast. There isn't a commercial sign around. You can rent a cottage sitting high above the surf, cliffside......very secluded. Keep traveling up the coast and you head into the Giant Redwood Forest. The trees are amazing!

On the way up, stop at some wineries in Napa or Sonoma, and stock up on wine for the evenings, watching beautiful sunsets. It's not as publicized as Monterey, but just as beautiful, and not as pretentious.

You can fly into Sacramento (easier to navigate than The Bay Area).
Check out VRBO for cottages along the coast. Beautiful scenery sitting atop cliffside views overlooking the coast. Check out village of Mendocino. Beautiful small town sitting on bluffs overlooking the Pacific. The coastal drive is breath taking. Drive up thru Giant Redwood National Park. Drive as long as you want. Little traffic and beautiful views. Fly into SF Bay area and drive thru Sonoma wine country on your way up there.
I don't think Billy Napier is the right hire for LSU, but he WILL be the right hire for a big time school. LSU and Scott will shoot for the moon and end up with the best hire available. paying top dollar. Time will tell if it pays off. Bottom line....the next coach could possibly win another national championship. History dictates it is probable from the past two mental giants. I don't like Saban as a representative of of LSU, but he knew where to place himself as the GOAT. He wouldn't have done it anywhere else except Ala or LSU. He knew he couldn't do it in the NFL, The guy knew his place, and he took advantage of it.
