Do the interests of recruiting not warrant an announcement sooner rather than later?

Only 6 or 7 teams still can make the playoffs, so there are few, if any, hire prospects whose decisions could not be announced now. With early recruit signing in December, don't the interests of recruiting urge that the coaching hire be an announced if it reallly has been decided upon? And if Riley really was never in it, wouldn't the same concerns have prompted an announcement before this weekend?

Yeah no one else has even thought of this. Not even the current AD.

It’s certainly a big consideration. And I’m sure a priority. But the current early class seems relatively solid, and if you get someone in by early January he will have a month to recruit the late signing group.

So I think a lot depends on what’s really going on behind the scenes. Ideally you have a guy start immediately.

You don’t rush the hire based on one recruiting class

If we have to sacrifice a single recruiting class to hire the right guy to lead us back to prominence the next 5-10 years, then so be it

LSU doesn't want Napier.

We're not going to crush it at this point anyway. Best we can hope is ask them to wait to the 2nd period rather than hire the first Stoops you see to "salvage" an early signing period. We'll just need to hit the portal harder.
