Yeah the contract being offered now is to make that play for the post-Saban dominance.

Kirby Smart is positioning UGA for the same kind of thing. Florida needs to be thinking that way, too. I'm not sure hoping Napier can transition up is the right play, but if he is and they nail that hire, they'll be one to watch, as well.

Also, there's always Alabama post-Saban to watch out for. Their next hire will be critical.

Ultimately, there's always going to be a bit of an arms race between LSU, Bama, UF, and UGA. UT and OU could shake things up a bit, but those 4 are going to be the 4 to watch pretty much always.

I think they expect to poach Dabo and continue to win championships. The problem I see is how old Venables is getting.

There's almost inevitably a decline after a HOF type coach. It seems difficult to imagine they would be different from either their own history or the history of other great programs
