I need more iron but I can't stand taking iron pills. They make me sick. Does anyone have any iron-rich food ideas besides spinach or meat. I'm sick of spinach and I don't eat meat. I do eat seafood but that doesn't contain iron. Is there any iron-enriched drink or bar I could eat??

Thanks in advance

Invest in the stock market, you'll be biting nails in half in no time.

true

Also,
Iron absorption is improved by combining it with Vitamin C

I will increase my Vitamin C. I guess I will be cooking black beans in my cast iron pot in the next few days.

Any other food ideas? I wish there was some iron-enriched sports drink or bar. that would make my life a lot easier.

High acid foods, like tomato sauces for example, cooked in case iron receive the most benefit.

Iron is not found in many suppliments because iron overdose is HIGHLY dangerous.

Besides, a homemade sauce piquante tastes infinitely better.

Potatoes with the skin on... everyone likes potatoes.

Also try cereals like Total that are full of nutrients.

Do the iron pills cause nausea for you, or just constipation? If just constipation, you could combine them with a stool softener (colace) or senna (senekot). Alot of food are fortified with iron, but if you're a vegetarian and are iron deficient, it may be tough to get what you need from non-heme (blood) sources without supplementation.

Shellfish contain iron

FYI: Drinking coffee within an hour of a meal can reduce iron absorption by up to 80%....avoid coffee directly after meals or taking your supplement.

I throw up the iron pills and usually everything else for about 12 hours afterwards. I think I will have to resort to iron shots or something like that.

I love potatoes.

Total cereal really does have 100% of your recommended daily value of iron... pretty impressive. Add a pack of splenda to that stuff and eat up!

I take FERGON. you have to ask for it behind the counter. 27 mg. I'm not as tired. Take it with food like it says on the bottle. hope this was helpful.

doesn't oatmeal have a good bit? I have never had to deal with it so I am not sure. Thought it had a lot in there.
