Riley and Jimbo are a no go

I’m obviously not an insider, so you can downplay what I’m about to say all you want.

I won’t say much about my source as I don’t want to dox him. And if I named him and explained how we know each other, I would out myself as well. All I’ll say is that he works in the LSU AD and has been involved in previous coaching searches including this one. People are always asking him about LSU sports. We hang out frequently so I try not to bring that sort of stuff up too often.

We spoke this afternoon and I asked him if things were crazy at work. He said “nope, the deal is done.” I said please tell me it isn’t Jimbo. He laughed and said “it 100% isn’t Jimbo, but fans will really like the hire.” I asked about Riley, he laughed again and said “it 100% isn’t him either, he has no interest in leaving OU.”

He wouldn’t tell me who it is and I can respect that. Just my own guess but I’m thinking it’s Aranda unless Woodward is pulling someone like Matt Rhule from the NFL.

There were a few other names thrown around here that he was willing to deny as well (Urban, Fickell, Kiffin, Bill O’Brien, and Mark Stoops).
