Is There a Better Coach in the SEC Than Les Miles?

38-6. Ranked #2/3 AFTER losing a ton of players to the NFL.
Is Richt better?
Meyer?
Tuberville?
Fulmer?
Spurrier?
The only one you can make a case for is Saban, and even then, Miles has done as much as Saban in less time.
If Miles wins out and beats Tuberville, Richt, Meyer, and Saban again, you have to say he's the best coach in the SEC, if not America.

Hard to say. Saban is up there with Miles imo.

Petrino...oh wait, at any time he will be jumping another ship and heading for another job elsewhere.
j/k of course
Miles, hands down- for the reason that he coaches to WIN games, doesn't coach games thinking he might lose

Would Miles have Bama ranked #2-3 after one season? Possibly. On the flip side, would Saban have LSU ranked #2-3 after losing so much talent and having a freshman qb?

Saban is at least as good if not better IMO.

That's actually a good perspective.
IMO neither could do what they are both doing right now.

I have alot of respect for Steve Spurrier as a coach even though he used to be an arse. If he was coaching at Florida right now I would be much more scared than CUM at Florida. Spurrier just cant get the recruits at SC.

Spurrier has never been known as a big-time recruiter. He is a good game coach, but he can't and won't do the things at SC that he did at FL, and you can tell that is not making him happy

Saban has 2 double digit win seasons in 12 years of College Football. Also 2 of the worst losses for an SEC Coach: UAB at LSU, UL(M) at Bama

I agree. It'll be interesting to see whether Saban can maintain this run that Alabama is on. His track record suggests they'll falter, so we'll see if that happens.
Meyer, Tuberville, Richt and Fulmer really aren't in the discussion. Spurrier should be, though. When he had talent comparable to Miles' at Florida, he produced a lot of SEC titles, albeit in a much weaker SEC than the one Miles has to deal with now.

Saban.
You prefer to Win 9 games a season rather than 11? wow.

Saban is a better coach, don't care what anyone says. Hes a program builder, Miles doesn't have that on his list...

It's impossible to answer the Miles question because he's never been in a situation like that. On the Saban question, we have one example from his time at LSU, and that was 2004, plus a another possible example, 2002. So far, although granted it's very early, Miles has performed better than Saban did in either of those years.
