If Riley turns down 8yrs/96 million…

Then he really is soft as baby shite. LSU is clearly a better situation with OU heading into the SEC but, he’s just too scared of the backlash..
He is my number one white whale by far. However, if you start negotiating in bad faith to an AD at a top-5 program, that looks terrible. Red flags everywhere.
That’s bush league shite and I honestly would feel better with Aranda and/or Campbell because I know their teams actually play hard and would not lose to a Lincoln Riley OU team coaching LSU’s talent

There's so much more that goes in to making this decision for him than money

If he turns down 15 million a year to coach at LSU, where he's damn near guaranteed to win a Natty, then good riddance, Charmin soft

I agree but no one knows what the actual offer is. But you'd be hard pressed to find a better resume' (without mentioning Saban). I do think an offer has been made.
If Woodward throws some serious money at him, like you said here, he's never leaving OU.
Who knows if he'd be the highest paid coach in CFB but he'd be up in the top 3, I'd say.
Saban gets, 9M a year, I think?
I'm wondering if OU would match LSU's offer. If it's substantially more than what he's currently making, it would be hard to just walk away from that.

But money says a lot.
It says “we support you”
It says “we believe in you”
It says “we trust you”
When somebody wants to raise the bar for you and your family.. money is great way to show your confidence in them.

It's money. That's why you open the door & respond. If Riley did all of this in bad faith to get $2mil a year more from OU instead of $5mil a year more from LSU, he's a damn unprofessional fool.

No chance he comes anywhere close to the success he’s had in the Big 12 in the SEC. They will fire him after his third consecutive 4 loss or greater season.

Well he did bitch about Baylor kicking a field goal instead of manning up and acknowledging he got his arse whipped.

I agree with most of your posts but I have to disagree here. Either way, he'll be coaching in the SEC. Either when OU joins or if he gets hired by LSU. I really think he'd do well provided he hires a top notch DC.
I sure don't want him to bring Grinch.

You may have misunderstood. I think he would be very successful at LSU, but not at OU when they move to the SEC. He’s looking at 4 or more losses a year if he chooses to stay at OU.

Gotcha.

I did.
So I agree with you again.

Money doesn't hurt that's for sure.

I don't know if the money itself moves the needle. At least, it wouldn't for me. I'm making 6,7,8 mil a year, an extra few just isn't going to do it for me. I can't spend all of that in a year, half of it is getting invested. Kids would get free tuition wherever I'm coaching. As long as I could compete for championships where I'm at and I'm comfortable, I'd probably stay sans another good reason for me to leave.

Hence his other demands.
If I come to a table with demands, that means my needs aren’t currently being met to my expectation.
Seems like LSU has met all of his other demands.

I agree, and IF he and Woodward have actually looked one another in the eye and agreed and then he reneges on their deal, then he's a dirty rotten snake in the grass sumbich.

Lol at the fast food line cooks on this site criticizing another man for making what he believes is the best decision for him and his family before he’s even made it. We will hire a good coach regardless.

Or in the real world without tiger stripes...
OU might have given him a counter offer that got close enough to the 8/96 and he doesn't want to leave a place he's been at for going on a decade. Moving isn't fun even for rich people. A lot of change and newness, obviously. It's much more than a moving truck and a new house.
Some people value other things besides money especially if it's not that big of difference.
In this case, OU provides way more stability for him, his wife, and young children. He's already set up, they have friends, he just built a house, etc.
Why give that up for a couple of dollars up front?
Over time, he'll likely make more at OU. That could be how he views it. He's probably looking at Bob Stoops as an example. Bob walked on water at OU. He built a giant castle, raised his kids, (still) lives like a king. Lincoln is in the process of being the next Bob (but different).
Bad faith? Man, that's silly. If the stuff from guys like TBL is even true, it sounds like Lincoln entertained LSU but OU countered. That's not bad faith at all. He listened to both sides and made a decision.
