Yeah I think Napier knows how to run the whole program and hire good assistants.

I doubt Petersen comes out of retirement for this but if he does, I doubt he's doing it for a payday. Maybe he burns out in a few years but he'll be rock solid until then.

Riley - 5 solid but no defense. weird
Aranda - 2 grand slam
Napier - 3 risky but huge potential
Tucker - 5 solid but worrying. no sustained success
Kiffin - 7 caricature 3.0
Jimbo - 4 extremely solid but will not eclipse Bama
Rhule - 1 major coup. would be astonished
Petersen - 9 would melt

Don’t really get “huge potential” for Napier. Based on what? Not sure what I would have to believe a coach had huge potential. He’s 42 and has never been elite at any job he’s had. Not a sterling coordinator resume, average recruiting for a Bama coach, and has never won the weakest conference in CFB out right. What’s the potential? Dude seems like a good Sun Belt coach who has an effective sales pitch.

It was done mostly as a troll to the anti-Napier crowd but I didn’t want to draw any more attention to myself. I pissed off a few people when they found my threads on here.

His program is organized top to bottom like the elite schools and it earns them a lot of wins.

Saban doesn’t make you an on-field coach if you’re not an elite-level coach. His HC record at ULL is elite for the Sun Belt. Universally seen as an elite recruiter dating back to his time at Clemson.

The idea is that his plan at ULL can be implemented one-to-one at a P5 program and have a lot of success. It’s not a fluke that multiple SEC schools have interviewed him and wanted to hire him.

I personally think he needs a power 5 job first.
To jump from Sun Belt to one of the top 5 jobs seem big.

Maybe it isn't but to me hw needs ajob like TCU first.

Just my opinion

And a valid one at that. A lot of people share it. Many people (including ADs) do think he’s ready though.

Maybe he is. I just like coaches who sustained success at power 5 programs first.

Like Riley, Dabo, Meyer, Fickell.

Napier seems like has all the tools but I just want to see him do it when the talent level is equal in his conference
