Becoming a paralegal

I know there a few lawyers on this board so I figured this place would have some good info.
Wife (no pics) is interested in becoming a paralegal or doing something similar with court/law. Her experience has been in social work for quite a while. Can anyone share what would be the best route to go to get into this field and what to expect? She can be selective and doesn’t have to jump right into the first thing she sees.
Any information would be helpful.

Some community colleges offer a two degree in it. A 4 year college degree in the field is best though

She does have a bachelors degree. But she can afford to be selective right now.
She’s interested in the field but not interested in becoming a lawyer. Im sure there are other jobs in the field were probably unaware of that she could do.

Law school is 3 years.

OP is not talking about his wife becoming a lawyer. His wife has a Bachelors which is beyond the requirements of becoming a paralegal. He’s looking for suggestions beyond that realm.

I still don’t follow. She doesn’t want to be a lawyer. I’m not sure how clear I can be.

State is always looking for people. If she has a bachelors and a background in social work I’m pretty sure she could peruse the state job boards and find something she’d be interested in. The salary isn’t going to be great but it seems like that’s not the goal here. If she’s in social services she likely has an in with most of these cats anyway so they would be proud to have her working in a different facet.
Hope that’s more helpful.
Short answer is apply for some stuff and work that social network before spending a lot of time on certs that may be unnecessary.
Investigator always seemed like a cool gig to me.

Tell her to check community colleges or even online courses. I looked into it a couple of years ago. It would have taken a little over a year I think to get the certificate.

I wasn’t being a dick when I said go get a job as a paralegal. I think it’s your employers discretion.
I am old though. Maybe shite has changed.
A JD from even a shitty school is impressive to most employers. Tell your wife to quit being a punk. You can alway decide NOT to be a lawyer. You can’t always decide to be a lawyer.
A JD and she gets whatever shitty feel good job she wants. Or maybe a boathouse. Who knows. I know 15 guys with law degrees killing it in other fields bc they don’t want to be a lawyer and they have a stud resume. Half these guys are dumb asses who probably thought law school was 8 years too.
It will open some doors.
