I know it’s a movie but..
No way Jake would have stopped Alonzo after getting the sh*t kicked out of him.
Also, why would that gang have gone through Jake’s wallet before they were gonna kill him? Why not after?

You can look at just about any movie and find a piece of the plot that if the opposite happens, the movie is over. I think about it all the time, I think it would be funny if someone "remade" movies this way to end after 10 minutes. Could make a decent YouTube channel.

If Alonzo was that dirty, he wouldn’t have trusted Jake enough to expose himself like that on the first day. Yea, he built in the blackmail, but he would’ve exposed things in more steps over time after building trust.
If Alonzo puts a hit on Jake with the Mexicans, Jake is a dead man. There’s no contingencies.

I have thought about this exact thing numerous times. I just don’t have the drive or the know-how to edit that shite and make it happen. But I’ve always thought it would be funny. Like all the movies where people magically lose a cell signal. Then just get one and make the call to the police and it’s over and everyone is on their merry way.

Alonzo was pressed for time and desperate to escape the Russians. He made the decisions he made with Jake because he had to deal with him on the fly.

They wanted to empty his pockets before they pulled the trigger so they wouldn't have to sift through the blood and brain matter. By doing it first, they pull the trigger, wrap the body, then dispose.
And, if I recall correctly, Moreno was the one that decided to empty the pockets before Smiley pulled the trigger; and was confused that he had a girl's wallet. The cousin's picture was in her wallet that was in Jake's possession; he didn't have her pic in his wallet.

Random trivia but when Jake gets out of the car on the freeway after the hit on Roger you can hear Denzel finalizing the hit on Jake with Smiley. You can also hear Alonzo leave while Jake is playing cards with them. And the King Kong line was improvised by Denzel. Awesome movie
