I got to know Ed well when he was at Ole Miss. He was always outgoing and kind to me and my family. He had a deep distrust(some rightfully so), but he allowed this to progress into paranormal and it effected the way he managed his staff and players. In fairness to Ed, many of the higher ups at Ole Miss did not accept him and never gave him a chance.

On the other hand, I’ve been told of his eruptions and aggressive behavior. Initially I merely attributed this to him being a gregarious Cajun. But as time played on, I came to realize that Ed’s career would likely reflect his personality….either riding high, or the lowest depths. I honestly felt he had learned from his mistakes and no one was pulling for him harder than me and my family. We went down for the Florida game in 2019 to support him.

Immediately after LSU won the NC, I told my family that the authenticity of Ed overcoming his past demons would stand it’s strongest test. Could he stand prosperity?

When He and Kelly divorced(I don’t know the circumstances and it’s none of my business), but I said that this was not good, beyond the obvious reasons. It seemed to me that Kelly was an anchor(don’t know that), and I was concerned that with his recent success, $$ etc, he would not make good decisions. I regret to say my concerns were merited.

Flagrantly flaunting relationships, I knew, would be the last straw. It became apparent last year that he had lost the team. In 2019, those guys would have walked through a wall for him. I’ve long contended that a person’s strength, is also their weakness. Ed’s, hard charging, blue collar drive, lifted him to the various heights he has achieved throughout his career. Those same attributes, drove poor decisions.

I hope Ed finds his way in life. LSU has been a football power for years. You guys have the resources, fan support and the history to reach those heights again.

It was clear by some of his coaching hires he was dabbling in the dark arts of the paranormal. Sad.

Not necessarily so as divorces are part of the public record, but I agree with you in spirit.

Thanks for posting.

Thanks for sharing and agree with you 100 per cent. As a great friend of mine told me "It's how you handle or mishandle success that makes you a great or poor person."

I guess I’m saying we all, have a tendency to frame things in a polar manner. Two years ago, he was the greatest(fielding what was likely the greatest NC team ever), and now he’s terrible. Within knowing the facts, beyond the poor field performances, I think Ed is basically a good person, with a great knowledge of the game, while at the same time, continues to struggle with demons we had all hoped that he had conquered. Having received grace and redemption myself, I look for that day in others. I know that Ed is leaving with a lot of $$$$, but if that’s all he’s “leaving with”, it’s truly sad. As trite as it is, money does not buy happiness. I genuinely hope he reaches that in his life where he’s at peace with himself and others. It’s priceless!

Sometimes money only buys some people more and larger luggage to take you along the journey. Money is not the root of all evil--it's the love of it that is. Most people never master success and prosperity--but those who do live can learn to live life to the fullest. Hopefully Ed finds soon enough that the pot of gold at the end of that rainbow he's chasing won't crash him at the dead end of the road.
