If Woodward gives Franklin some massive deal like he gave Jimbo then he should be fired.

Most likely this is just to get Franklin a raise though

Even if Franklin is perfectly content to stay at Penn St, I’m sure Sexton got in his ear and asked him what his agent was doing to get him a raise there.

$7.5m a year? He currently makes $6.7m.

Even looking past the fact Woodward had a blank check from A&M boosters and was told to pay what it took to get Jimbo, I don’t think you people realize the strategy of locking in a coach for a salary like that for 10 years. Look at athletes and coaches in sports where the salaries are increasing in orders of magnitude every few years. Locking in Jimbo for $7.5m for 10 years seemed like an outrageous sum of money, but now it’s right in line with top coaches and towards the end of the contract life he’d be underpaid. Now, the fully guaranteed part, not for me, but that wouldn’t happen at LSU without the billions of dollars backing him. Also, Woodward’s successor gave him a raise.

That is how Woodward "negotiates" - OVERPAY the market with excessive contract length.
Why not? Not his money and he has no accountability.

I agree. I think LSU needs a hungry young coach because LSU will be on a 3-5 year total rebuild after all that has transpired this year with recruiting/quitting/injuries/transfer portal etc. LSU is as low as it can go right now, and paying a coach with a decent past record to come try to fix things 8-10 million dollars is a total waste of money imo. However, a young coach with great energy and aspirations for more than half that salary with incentives could build LSU back as strong as ever. that is why I am leaning to Napier. Saban taught, and proven he can build a program. I say give him the reigns and enjoy the ride rather than paying a fortune and watch a coach rest on his laurels laughing all the way to the bank.
