Since we are throwing coaches under the bus today. What would lead to this guys firing. It will be the tenth season since he won a NC and things don't seem to be getting better this season. He is 0-3 in SECCG since then. Is he on the hot seat if Tenn goes 7-6 this year?

getting to the SECCG 4 times in 10 years isn't bad, especially coming from the superior SEC East

this is what hurts him:

1. the emergence of USC and their taking all the californian talent and UTenn slowly downgrading its talent since then

2. 2005. inexcusable season

3. inability to find an OC not named david cutcliffe who doesn't suck and too much loyalty to his DC

i don't think that UTenn will ever consider firing him as long as he gets them to the SECCG every other year or

Phil Fulmer Resigned as head coach of Tenn. this afternoon to accept a job from FEMA. It was discovered that no one can evacuate 100,000 people better than him.

Phil always pulls surprise wins out of his butt when he gets on the hot seat...like last year...I expect him to do the same...

How many coaches have won more than one national championship during this period of time?

I live in Knoxville and, to a man, the Vol fans up here trace the beginning of their downfall to the loss against LSU in the '01 SECCG. They say that is the most damaging loss of Fulmer's career. He still has the support of the AD Mike Hamilton but the majority of fans want him to either retire with dignity or want Hamilton to get rid of him.
