This may be true for small town agencies, but I can guarantee you BRPD, EBRSO, NOPD, etc. are not receiving any material income from traffic tickets.

I was speaking to a neighbor the other day who is an attorney, and he told me that Lafayette police are no longer pulling over people here for minor traffic violations, it has more to do with where the revenue that those violations go to than the danger of those interactions though.
