Anyone ever fish the borrow pits off of Hwy 28 east outside Pineville near Lake Catahoula?

No, but we fished the Mississippi River bar pits south of Vidalia when I was a little kid. Caught, and killed, so many gar in the bar pits, we called them gar pits! We knocked them in the head with a paddle, then put on gloves and broke their bottom jaw. Those bar pits were full of gar, Buffalo, Grinnel, Gaspergou, just about any trash fish you'd want to see.

I grew up in Pinevile and we called the big holes where they dug out gravel and sand "bar" pits.

I have no idea why. Some redneck probably misunderstood a word and it caught on to all rednecks and their offspring.

I learned some weird words from my north LA redneck parents.

They rurnt me good.
