Every year, several thousand teenagers are killed in car wrecks and several hundred thousand go to the the hospital with serious injuries, many life-threatening and life-changing.

Are we pushing to stop teenage driving?

Can someone explain the difference between dying from Covid & dying with Covid? It seems to be a popular distinction on this thread, but I don't get it.

A couple of key points.

1) If someone has Covid and diabetes, they are much more likely to have severe negative outcomes. So while around 1/3 of Americans have pre-existing conditions, 90% of Covid deaths are in the group of people who have pre-existing conditions. If you drill down to several key pre-existing conditions (hypertension, obesity, diabetes), a huge portion of Covid deaths occur in those subsets. These are still, I believe, correctly classified as Covid deaths.

2) The more indefensible practice is death certificate harvesting. This is when health agencies (at various levels, Federal, state, county) find a death and then reclassify that death as a Covid death based upon a Covid diagnosis within X days of their death or based upon a suspected case of Covid. These “harvestings” happen 3, 6 or even more months after the death.

That’s also why it’s hard to make sense of some of the daily death numbers as they include deaths that actually occurred weeks and months ago.

Raising the driving age to 18 would have a far greater positive effect on mortality than the fricking vaccine.

My response would have been:

“Jesus Christ y’all suck at your jobs if you’ve accounted for 10% of child covid deaths. Y’all should resign.”

Could be a fun PR move. The hospitals would immediately let you know that these are very frail patients.

“Hospitals killing pediatric Covid patients? 10% of all pediatric Covid deaths occur in the hospital.”

Now do it under the age of 10...

Probably should be a few categories 0-2 (most vulnerable to any disease/virus), 2-5, 6-10, 11-17 (and this can probably be broken down into 2 groups.

But, we wouldn't get our shock pieces if a large percentage of the deaths are from kids that are 16, 17 and were already have several of the at-risk pre-existing conditions.

And every fricking Kaeren would cry, "But it's too convenient to have them drive themselves to school than for me to take them!"

75,000,000 X ($24/first dose + $24/second dose + $24/booster (if applicable))= $5,625,000,000

Something that just occurred to me, I would like to see if pharma companies offered discounts on other drugs to state/local agencies in return for a vax mandate.

“You mandate Covid vax and we will take 10% off ADHD meds.”

I’m sorry, and while every loss is tragic, way, way more kids have died in car accidents in the same time than Covid. If we treated cars the same way we treated Covid, we’d never leave the fricking house. Stop the mask and vaccine mandates immediately.

I read a report that stated over 200 children under age 14 were killed by drunk drivers…..allow that to simmer!

One of my friends is an elementary principal here in St. Louis. Their district got 10% of their total budget for three years from CARES. If they stop following CDC guidelines, does that money go away?

Your chart looks incorrect to me.

Doesn’t 499 / 58,186 = .0086

It is listed as .86, which is almost 1%.

In short, it is actually just shy of 1/10 of 1%.
