My eyes have been opened to the shitty swampitude and worse, true NWO cabal, that is the Bush family.

But that disgustingness aside for a moment, take a time machine back some 30 years and tell me, what do you think WJC would be thinking right now if he could see what his party (and its bitch the RINOs) have done/become?

I guess this is another way of asking, is this all part of the plan or just the inevitable slow(ish) decline of a fundamentally flawed ideology? (Not that those are mutually exclusive.)

He'd still be thinking about chasing tail and getting Hillary off his back.

The world of politics have changed to the left so much, Clinton would be a Republican now and Bush would probably be an Independent loser.

Bill Clinton was extremely smart and practical, and he had James Carville and Dick Morris in his corner.

Two issues that were pushed by the Newt Gingrich-led Congress with the Contract with America:

1 - Balance the budget
2 - Welfare reform

Clinton initially opposed both. However, both initiative were really popular with the majority of American voters across the political spectrum.

James and Dick: "Mr. President, regardless of your personal feelings, if you get out there, sign both of these and tout how they're both good, the majority of Americans will view you in an extremely positive light, no matter the blue dress scandal stuff."

President Clinton wasn't stupid. President Jimmy Carter 2.0 on the other hand...

I don't think you know how politicians work. They may have sincere beliefs, but that's not what leads them to make decisions.

He'd do whatever it took to become president, etc., just like he did back then.

Biden actually a great example of this. How many 80 year olds do you know that change their opinions?

I get that. This is more a scifi thought experiment. Not a Billy Jeff who's running for anything. Just an abstract 1992 BJ, as it were.

I'm just mulling over how far afield we are from anything sane. And pondering how it happened.

Two of Clinton’s early initiatives were a BTU tax and universal healthcare, so he wasn’t a moderate.

Fortunately, he was 100% politician and he cared about polling.

-However- if not for the 1994 wakeup, he’d have stayed much further left.

He'd be selling missle tech directly to China instead of through their North Korea proxy like he did in 90s.

Initially scanned through and thought you said he'd sell missile tech for North Korean pussy and thought fair enough, sounds like Bill

Clinton is the one who drove the party far left and sent a lot of old democrats to the Republican Party. Hence the term "neocon."

This is how they shift the political leadership and gradually swing the right wing party left. The end result is what you often see across Europe. Their choices of candidates for leadership are always between a socialist - and a communist. For example, Angela Merkel was actually the more conservative candidate in her last bid for re-election. Marie LePen, despite her immigration stance, is actually very close to a marxist-leninist in her ideology.

Give it a little longer, and people like Bernie Sanders will be the "right wing."
