By Keiland Williams per Crowton.
"We had about three tricks," Crowton said. "I was going to call a different trick play, but we were on the wrong hash mark. Then Les said, 'But we're in position to run the play to Keiland.' His timing was perfect. Coach brought that to my attention. They had been running up hard on our sweeps, so we thought it would work."

so I take back what I said about it being all Crowton's calls, certainly Crowton has several trick plays he can run, but give Les credit for making the perfect call at the right time. He has probably done this on more than one occasion but fans just don't know what goes on behind the scenes.

People should shut up about Les being dumb from now on, maybe fans from other teams will just take their arse beating and sit down and go to the penalty box and sulk for awhile.

Man Les is such a dumb, overrated, lucky, coach-with-Nick's players, piece of trash, incoherent-kinda coach.

I am sad we couldn't have gotten someone better. Like Bobby Petrino.

Creauxton gave credit to Miles too:

quote:

Good timing

But Williams’ touchdown toss supplied the score that put LSU in front for the first time (17-14) and changed the game’s complexion heading into the fourth quarter.

Offensive coordinator Gary Crowton said the play was installed this week and it was Miles who suggested the Tigers try it when they did.

“It happened to be the right time for that play,” Miles said. “We needed a fast score."

Funny thing is that it was not too badly covered, there were two Auburn players in the vicinity. It took a nice, lofted pass from Keiland to get it over their heads. Pretty nice touch for a halfback.

Absolutely. If he does not put that ball on the money than it is picked off.

That call was important for several reasons, not the least of which is that it was good for KW to find a way to contribute to the team's success(and a damn fine pass I might add)...and team chemistry seems to improve when this happens...it seemed to give the entire team new energy and determination to win it...thanks KW...

you can't get "lucky" this many times

the staffs hard work in the film room, observations during the game and balls to make the call have paid off time and time again

to be able to recognize areas of opportunity midweek, then know when to call it, then execute it is more than luck

Any chance we see a 'Wildcat" type of formation with Keiland lined up at QB?

The hat has an incredible feel for the game, and his timing is impeccable. Nobody is that "lucky" It is pure skill.

The world and this board get too excited about IQs. They aren't required for head coaches. In fact, good decision-makers are a lot more succesful in real life.

i fully learned my lesson on sat. night....

don't worry about LSU until there is 1 sec on the clock and we don't have the lead, and even then Les has your back

Let 'em all continue to talk about luck. Who the hell cares, you know? That play was ran to perfection by Lee, the blockers, Byrd, and of course Keiland. Yes, things can always go wrong, but obviously EVERYONE involved new very well exactly what was expected of them on that given play. Probably because they have practiced it a ton. No luck needed folks.

I'd rather people keep thinking Les is retarded. It makes them underestimate him and when their arse gets burned, its that much better to see them bitch about it...

I think all of the 'gnashing of teeth' from other SEC fans is more about them trying to self validate their opinions of Miles ("see, I told you he was lucky"), than about giving Miles credit for feeling the game, knowing his players and the plays, and making the right call at the right time.

Miles looks into the face of defeat and proclaims "How can we secure victory"?, while other teams and coaches look into the face of defeat and proclaim "How can we lose"?

It's a philosophical game changer that most people can't comprehend.

He also called the onside kick... I watched the Cox replay and after the halfback pass touchdown, he covered his mouth on the headset with both hands like he was blowing his nose or something. Next thing you know, an onside kick!

deja vu all over again - second time a halfback pass has been instrumental in defeating Auburn. The old conservative coach, Cholly Mac, used the halfback pass (although he had a backup qb lined up in the halfback position) - to get a quick lead on Auburn in 69. Won that year 21-20.

Not a fan of this quote:
quote:

"I could've tucked it and run if I wanted to, but that was my first and probably last opportunity to throw it," Williams said. "So I was going to throw it even if he wasn't open. I was going to throw it up there anyway. But he was open, and I just got it to him."
