Is it possible that LSU just does not have that much talent?Lack of development? Both?

The O-line is poor. RBs are below average. LBs will a single one be drafted? It looks like an average, at best, team talent wise. Add horrible coaching to that and you end up with a losing record. All of this, 100%, is due to Ed Orgeron and those who enabled him.

Yea, it’s possible. Who is at fault?

A lot of our highly rated classes weren't very balanced.

Pretty sure half of our recruiting classes from the past 2 years aren't even with the team anymore.

Lack of talent?
Yes. LSU has whiffed on a lot of OL/DL recruits.
Lack of development?
Yes. We have a shitty head coach.

Lsu is not developing talent. That’s the issue. We are constantly raking in top 5 recruiting classes with the GA,Alabama, Clemson, Ohio States of the world. Those teams are constantly in the playoffs or a threat to make the playoffs. Sadly we’ve only had one appearance in our lighting in a bottle year.

There is talent on this team, just not where you need it. Skill players without the accompanying big ugliest just cannot cut it. We should have guys camped out in Big 10 and Big 12 country looking for linemen.

Ed isn't good at identifying talent or coaching it up.

Don't know the cause, but there are currently only 5 starters that would be certain starters on the best teams in the SEC (Alabama, Georgia) and two are specialists.
York
Atkins (kickoffs)
Stingley (when healthy)
Ricks
Boutte
The players are trying their best. It is not an effort problem. The problem is either talent, development, preparation, or a combination or those.

It was very apparent on Saturday that LSU has a lot of talent

O-line has been a chronic problem. 2019 has, I think, three guys in the league, but will anyone from the current line even make an NFL practice squad? At one point I thought Ed Ingram would be drafted for sure, but he is not playing well at all.

It makes one wonder about class ratings, but the ratings seem to work out well for, say, the gumps. I do not thing Orgeron can recruit in the context of overall roster management or in retaining players that should stay another year. He is just not very good at much of anything.

Yeah you can have a top 5 class in the rankings and not really address the needs of the team.

The talent thing is real. Not everywhere / every position but there's merit to it. That we had to bring in CBs Evans and cage from shite in state schools and for them to see the field is a HUGE talent red flag. That Liam Shan had to be brought in from harvard and is still our center. That we've brought in transfer LBs for 2 years now and they play significant time. That vaunted top OL recruit Kardell Thomas cant even see the field in THIS OL.... oof
The talent question is very valid.

I think the roster is weak AND Orgeron cannot develop anything outside of a boner for hoochy hoes.

bingo, been saying this for a while. our players do not get any better. look at bama lineman they are huge, our lineman should be making tv spots for krispy cream

You can’t guarantee every recruit will pan out. But the number or kids the have left the program or not developed is something that has to be addressed.

2019 4 star and up recruits
Derek Stingley (out - injured)
John Emery Jr. (academically ineligible)
Marcel Brooks (transferred)
Kardell Thomas (hasn't played yet)
Trey Palmer
Maurice Hampton (transferred)
Siaki Ika (transferred)
Ray Parker (arrested/dismissed?)
Devonta Lee
Peter Parrish (expelled)
Raydarious Jones (hasn't played yet?)
... definitely an issue. 4 and 5 star recruits not making it to the field past their freshman year.
