my mother and her brothers and sisters all had it.

terrible. my uncle lived in gretna and came to resent his daughter taking care of him; she gave up 5 years of her life to devote to him and by the end he was calling her filthy names, accusing her of stealing and physically attacking her. it was heartbreaking. she would call me and just cry her eyes out.

i cant imagine slipping into incoherence. i hope i have the courage to eat a 12 gauge before that happens if that happens to me. no way i'll be a burden to my wife and kids. they don't deserve to waste years of their life with someone who wont even know who they are in a few years.

eta i'm 55 so this is definitely on my mind alot.

Right there with you. If that diagnosis ever comes I’ve already told my wife I’m heading to the woods with a GPS tracker. They can send someone to collect my body when the tracker stops moving for a day.

my health was never something that concerned me right up until the moment I fell to the floor with the first stroke. 56 NO measurable health issues, solid BP, Cholesterol all the things they tell you to watch.

its shocking how quickly it can change, honestly wish the stroke had killed me
