Same here. I get a little nervous when I know a Jeopardy! answer and just can't get it out. I know that in my 20s-40s I would just blurt it out, but as I've gotten older (51), I just don't have the same recall that I used to.

I've never even remotely considered suicide. But years ago I told a friend of mine that if I ever feel myself getting advance dementia or alzheimer (or something like ALS), I would probably do it in my last lucid moment. Robin Williams did it for that reason and I never blamed him a bit.

I had no idea this is why. I thought it was depression.

I can't say I would have the guts to do that but I don't fault anyone in that situation that would.

my mother and her brothers and sisters all had it.

terrible. my uncle lived in gretna and came to resent his daughter taking care of him; she gave up 5 years of her life to devote to him and by the end he was calling her filthy names, accusing her of stealing and physically attacking her. it was heartbreaking. she would call me and just cry her eyes out.

i cant imagine slipping into incoherence. i hope i have the courage to eat a 12 gauge before that happens if that happens to me. no way i'll be a burden to my wife and kids. they don't deserve to waste years of their life with someone who wont even know who they are in a few years.

eta i'm 55 so this is definitely on my mind alot.
