That is correct. The dollars still work out to you getting a free 13 by trading in your old phone. Even if you have to pay off the remaining balance of the old phone, it isn't like you are paying extra for the deal. You are just paying what you already should have paid to own the current phone, and the deal is still giving you a free new phone in exchange.
