Chris Kanyon was one of the most innovate and versatile performers of his era, living with a secret he protected to a tragic end.

20 years before his time both in his style and in how his sexuality would be handled. Very sad story.

I’m sure this will be a fair and accurate and have absolutely no agenda, bias, or low brow attacks on certain superstars/promotions.

Sounds like, from twitter comments, that they expect Vince, undertaker, and other homphobes to be thrown to the wolves.

Caveat - Have not watched this yet.

That being said, there is likely a lot of stuff not being covered here.

IIRC, Kanyon was an abusive drunk to the point where Sinister Minister James Mitchell had to pull a gun on him to stop while both were in WCW together. So he clearly had demons of his own before he ever set foot in WWE.

In addition, Undertaker pretty much spent in 2001 and 2002 outright burying every WCW guy he faced (DDP, Jindrak and O'Haire, Kronik, etc.) so any shite Kanyon got wasn't solely because of his sexuality. He just got a ton of shite because he was from the competition and Undertaker wasn't going to let any of them look good.

Wasn't Pat Patterson, the right hand man of Vince, openly gay?? Soon much so, that he was harassing kids and vice conveyed for him?

I've also hear Hogan say in the past that her knew numerous closeted gay his in wrestling and it was kind of an open secret that everyone just accepted.

Pat was transparently gay but didn't "officially" exit the closet until he was really old. Despite the fact that he and Louis were together for decades.

Pat and harassing people is controversial to say the least.

The main stories about the ring boys and so forth deal mainly with Mel Phillips and Terry Garvin. Pat was accused too because he was gay but I don't think they tied him to that.

HOWEVER.

Lots of accusations that Pat used his power within the WWE office to keep people booked or put titles on them as long as they'd sleep with him.

If you go on YouTube and look, there are a lot of stories out there. One such story is that the Young Stallions were lined up in the late 80s / early 90s to get the WWF tag titles and that Pat told Jim Powers to come to his room that night in order to get the title shot. Jim didn't go, they didn't get the title shot, and he and Paul Roma were broken up shortly thereafter.

Honestly, I think that story is likely overblown because the Stallions weren't in the same league as other teams in the title picture at that time (Bulldogs, Hart Foundation, Strike Force, Demolition, Brain Busters) in popularity or ringwork. But this was far from the only story out there of people getting on the card or getting preferential treatment in exchange for staying with Pat in a one bed hotel room.

What a group, can even add LoD, Rockers, Nasty Boys, Natural Disasters to that list if you go early 90s

The ones I listed were just the ones who held the titles between 1986 and about 1991, minus the Colossal Connection which was just plain hard to watch because Andre was at the end of his career.

Not holding the titles includes the Rockers, Rougeaus, Powers Of Pain, Islanders, Killer Bees, and others. That division was fricking STACKED, which is why I love watching the Survivor Series matches from 1987 and 1988 for the tag division.

I wanna say Ahmed Johnson talked about it in an interview.

Survivor Series

Those late 80s early 90s Survivor Series are my favorite PPVs of all time just because they put teams together that made no sense. No story buildup, just tossed teams together and it was so fun

Yep. Totally sure a certain new producer who recently signed on with DSOTR will make sure it stays totally even keeled.

Fans of his current company love the fed after all.

But, this could explain the head-scratching booking that saw the Young Stallions come out of nowhere to be among the sole-survivors in the 10-team-tag-match at the 1987 Survivor Series. No one could believe the Stallions were the last men standing; this could shed some light on why that happened.

Certain wrestlers (banned WWE term) probably deserve it.
