Go back and watch the UCLA game, the clock wasn’t stopping on 1st downs most of the time and nobody noticed that either.

It wasn't always stopping on Saturday night. I thought it was a new rule change I didn't know about.

Bro, basically the clock doesn’t stop on 1st downs anymore. It’s a very, very short period of time. It doesn’t stop on out of bounds plays either outside of the last 2 minutes of a half.

The clock only stops for a few seconds on 1st downs now outside of the very end of the game. People make the same "the clock doesn't stop when they go out of bounds!!!" posts too. Just like 1st downs it stops then starts soon after.

In Les’ last game the were running way more clock off but I came to just accept getting screwed while playing in Auburn. Even on incompletions they’d run a few seconds off.

In order to speed up games the officiating mechanic has recently changed related to first downs. Used to wait until chains were reset. Now as soon as head linesman is at the spot and the ball is at least close to being placed on the ground the clock is wound. Sometimes even the game clock operator fudges a little too.
