I’ve been hard on Orgeron. The team has looked unmotivated and unprepared through the first two weeks.
Last night was a different story. They had a game plan and they executed it well enough. The team played with high intensity and passion. Our Dline is legit, our QB is improving, and we have a lot of young talent at WR.
They still have a long way to go, but this is a team that will be competitive in the SEC. Last week it looked like they would be lucky to get bowl eligible. I hope we see the upward trend continue.

Also, he got a haircut, which he needed.

They tried harder.
They're still poorly coached (blown assignments), Max still has the slowest release in football, and our OL is abysmal.

The most noticeable difference outside of the uptempo offense.

Typical inconsistent Orgeron team.

It was the Nike Air Monarch IVs he was wearing. Corch O needs to go exclusive with these shoes going forward.

Credit for what? Almost doing his job? Amazing how much slack we will cut this guy. I’ll give him credit when he can be somewhat consistent. We looked better but unfortunately our lack of preparation already cost us.

Clark had his best game since 2019, and the rest of the linebackers were solid. That was nice to see. MJ played really well other than the one mistake. The receivers did exactly what they were supposed to do and won the battles in single coverage. Stingley and Ricks are the real deal. Kiner has to get the majority of RB touches going forward.
The offensive line is still bad. They have to get better or it’s going to be some long games against the SEC slate. The running game has to get going or MJ is going to get hurt, which ties back to the Oline. They can’t let good teams pin their ears back knowing LSU is going to throw it 50 times. The safety play is still atrocious. Someone has to step up there.
ETA: Forgot to add that the defensive line is legit.

Making improvements. Obviously it doesn’t mean shite if we can’t win in the SEC, but I was on record as saying I didn’t think Orgeron was capable of finding ways to improve this team. He showed something last night.

He put the chicken head in the back burner.

All of this. We’ve all seen the lack of Oline recruiting for years and knew it would eventually catch us. It has. It’s mind boggling how bad LSU has been at safety for two years. That’s supposed to be one of our strengths based on recruiting.

They played with the effort they need to last night. These next 2 weeks are going to be interesting.

So now we’re giving credit for doing their job. Ok . It’s not like he did something out of the ordinary. So, just to be clear we’re giving him credit for not sucking anymore?

Have to hand it to O, he can sure beat a middling MAC team.

Dline might be legit against teams like the McNeese cowboys and the Chippewas! I’ll wait UCLA surely handled them ! Pump the brakes

As far as Orgeron goes, I'm taking it one game at a time. We did look good last night for sure but we'll see how we do in SEC play next weekend. I'm hopeful but not expecting much. We beat some teams like Auburn and Florida, my expectations will grow.

And at only $9M/year. What a bargain, we showed up and beat a MAC team that Vegas had as a 20 point underdog.
I’ll give credit when the man earns what we pay him to do. Run a program that causes other SEC coaches to lay awake at night thinking about having to play LSU.
