I’m getting my first credit card and was wondering which had the best perks. I read the rewards discussion thread but didn’t really learn much. My credit score is 744.

it all depends on what you want

I've had a Discover card for 30 years, their customer service is incredible and rewards system is straight forward

Right now I'm using a Chase Southwest card because I earned their companion pass and we can both fly for free.

If you want to go to Europe get the United Miles Chase card.

You can make
Thousands on any credit card.

And a $50 sign up bonus is trash. Cap
One and chase offering over a thousand bucks in rewards to sign up and $250
Referral Bonus

Discover is fine and you'll get double cashback your first year, but it won't give you any perks outside of a decent straightforward cashback rate. Chase Sapphire Preferred has a signup bonus of $1250 in travel points plus a few other perks. Can upgrade it to the high AF Reserve if you want things like Global Entry, airport lounges, etc. Chase Freedoms have $200 sign up bonus, 5x grocery, 3x pharmacy and dining with 0% annual fee. There's no universal "best" for anyone because it depends on what you mean by "perks."

I use my Hilton Amex Aspire for everything. Fee is $450 a year but you get $250 airline credit, $250 resort credit, free Diamond status, free annual weekend reward stay at any Hilton (Tahiti, Tokyo, Beverly Hills, etc.), credit for free Global Entry, automatic extended warranty on any purchase, Priority Pass airport lounge access, and 3-6x points on purchases plus other perks. You get another free reward stay every $60k you spend. I’ve got 3 free stays currently and am thinking about going to the Maldives that is usually $1500 a night. I used 3 free stays this summer at Waldorf in Key West with the free $250 resort credit for two massages on the beach. I find hotel points much easier to use than airline points. As Diamond member you get automatic upgrade, executive floor access, guaranteed room even if sold out, and use of Diamond Desk for any issues. Really great service. If you like to travel well it’s a great value. Points add up fast when you run all your bills and groceries through card. I even put $5000 on it last time I bought a car with no fee.

Perks are only useful if you enjoy them.

What are you looking for?

Really depends on what you spend your money on. I spend a lot at walmarks and Amazon. Their cards both offer 5% cash back. Have the Amex blue cash preferred which is 6% on grocery stores and streaming services, 3% on gas. Also have a chase sapphire that is 2% on restaurants. Chase also adds 25% to cash back if you use the “pay yourself back.” Wouldn’t mind having a card that did more at restaurants

my cards are the

capital one savor one card. no annual fee and 3% cashback on food purchases. it may have had like a 500 dollar sign up bonus. I use this for all my food and some grocery purchases

chase sapphire preferred. 95 dollar annual fee. has a really good sign up bonus that was worth about 1200 dollars in airline travel that i was able to transfer to southwest to pay for like 6 round trip flights. I use this for all my other purchases. I will downgrade to the no annual fee card version soon.

American express business gold card for my business $295 annual fee but great for what I need.

I did a lot of research for what I need. I don't want a credit card for every different type of transaction and like to keep it simple. Most of my daily spend is food so it all goes on the capital one and everything else on the chase that I save up and redeem for airline miles because I fly to universal Orlando about 4 time a year and this covers that.

also adding a lot of cards have great sign up bonuses where if you spend x amount you get y amount. these are great if you will naturally spend the y amount. don't buy things you don't need to hit the bonus

Tough to know what rewards you are interested in if you give of no information on what you want to do with the rewards.

Also, even though you have a nice score if you have little to no history you may not qualify for the "best" rewards cards.
