Listen I'm all about wanting to eat crow on Hayes, and think he is demonstrating growth patterns that are very promising, but the obvious answer here is that Giannis is a one of one, arguably the best player in the league(or at least top 3).
Hayes is very unlikely to become anything close to Giannis, not least of which they just aren't really built the same. Hayes has quickness for a center, but he has a skinnier frame while Giannis is a freak athlete and you combine that with his strength, and there really just is no one in the league like him.
I'd rather focus on the imminently plausible, which is Hayes finally earning a starting position to a point we no longer feel like we need to keep bringing in vet centers to play in front of him, at least before we talk about him turning into one of the 10 best players in the league.

I don't understand the need for Hayes to turn into a 3pt shooter. I want him to protect the rim, set hard picks and pull down double digit rebounds. You know all the stuff a Center is supposed to do, ala Capella. The offensive stuff is just extra. That is what we need out of the position and Hayes has more than enough talent. I have to keep reminding myself how young and raw he was coming out. This year will reveal a lot.

It is unlikely his play becomes comparable to Giannis'...but the possibility exists. Giannis was highly unlikely to become what he became.
Giannis was MUCH smaller than he is now when he was at Hayes age. Hayes has football genes. That doesn't mean he will be able to add a lot of muscle mass but the odds are better for him than most 7' NBA guys.
IF Hayes simply mirrors Tyson Chandler with a respectable jumper, I will consider the pick a success.

Look at pics of Giannis at 21 years old. Hayes absolutely has the opportunity to develop his body. There's no reason that Jaxson has to stay skinny.
Oh, and I agree that Jaxson is unlikely to become Giannis. I just think that it's possible.
