It's why we are told to wash our hands all the time.

I mean the concept is simple. Some infected person picks their nose, rubs their eyes, picks food from their teeth, etc. then opens the door with the same hand 30 seconds later. You come behind them and touch the same door knob and pick up the virus on your hands. You step outside and your eyes are irritated by the sudden change in light and you rub them. All of sudden you've inoculated yourself with the virus.

There are hundreds if not thousands of touching scenarios a day that play out like this for everyone in a social setting.
