This.

But what makes "The Chimes" is, well, the fact that it is on Chimes St. right next to the North Gates of LSU. The location was EVERYTHING to gain the reputation. It became a college tradition first before spreading to the other end of BR and the Northshore. The food is fine, but without that original location and already built in goodwill like it had in BR/south Louisiana when they opened other locations outside of LSU is it really anything all that special? Or at least special enough to replicate that success in an entirely different state?

Probably not that much different when Dreamland BBQ (Tuscaloosa) or Mama Goldberg's (Auburn) tried to make it work in BR. They were beloved college town traditions in Alabama but really had no name recognition outside of those states to find success in BR

I'm in Alabama and would much rather have a Chimes here than the Walk On's we got. But I've only been to Chimes twice, and both times were way back in the 90's.
