While the situation is suspicious you can’t assume he killed her. I wouldn’t be surprised if she got left somewhere without her phone. Abandoning someone doesn’t mean you killed them even though it’s a piece of shite thing to do.

It’s like me saying let’s take a ride and I drop you off down plank road in north Baton Rouge.

Not having your phone is something that might keep you from contacting people for a day or two at worst so long as you are in a populated area.

Also, if you left somebody in the middle of nowhere with no way to get help and they die then you absolutely are responsible for their death.
