I think another question to come out of this is the inevitable booster shot requirements as well as what will companies do with these. So say you get the original vax but miss one of the boosters….guess you get fired for that as well. This is never going to end and will be a total shitshow.

I'd already been vaccinated when my company announced it was required.

I never realized how many people home school their kids on this site. I say that because children can't attend school without government mandated vaccinations that pretty much everyone here has gotten at some point in your lives.

So...lose your job, then pay an attorney (while you are making no money) to sue your at-will employer for firing you?

Dynamite plan.

So I can tell you from experience that is much easier than you think. Most employers will settle the case, because it is just cheaper than a trial.

Even in Texas, the fired employee gets paid if they actually just go through the lawsuit motion. Not every time, but most of the time.

I know all of you Trump people will go to your grave saying he would have never done this, but he was one of the first people to get the vaccine and at one of his latest rally's he pleaded to people to go get the vaccine.

I tell people to get the vaccine as long as their doctor thinks it's best. it's only helping people. Trump has done the same.

but you're dead arse wrong about him mandating it.

LINK

quote:

Holding back on mandating vaccines, Mr Trump said, “I’m very proud of it. I saved millions of lives but — people have to have their freedom.”

He said: “I love our people, so I want our people to take the vaccines. But at the same time, I have to tell you, you can’t mandate it. You can’t force it. And I don’t think it’s going to be necessary because this thing is going to eventually go away.”

now he's not right about it going away. it's going to be the flu eventually, but it's death rate is going to wane as time goes on.

Employer ought to fire any employee who comes to work positive with COVID if they refused incentives for vaccinations.

What if they are positive and vaccinated. That is the larger problem now anyways.

Many companies have been offering set aside PTO to use if you are vaccinated and end up getting COVID. But for those that don’t get the vaccine, they have to use their own personal PTO if they get COVID.

i think with a very strong certainty that my wife or i (both vaccinated) caused a super spreader event at Pine Cove amongst a bunch of our unvaccinated friends. nothing serious for anybody but somebody gave it exclusively to people we hung out with and my wife and i didn't get it or have symptoms.

Those mandated vaccines function in a known, conventional manner and have long term, peer-reviewed studies determining their effectiveness and long term side effects with years and years of data to back them up.

They also typically combat illnesses with a detrimental history towards children that caused orders of magnitude higher mortality rates to children and infants than covid has.

Your turn.

I was told the approval process doesn't care about long-term review.

Trump was still president he would put a mandate in place as well.

This is truly a dense take, congrats on winning interweb imbecile of the day award. If anything, Trump would have been more aligned with Desantis on a middle ground solution that didn’t involve weaponizing your employer against you in such a draconian, communist fashion. You dims are truly a piece of work.

Just became a requirement this month at my job. I got the J&J months ago, so I didn't have to do anything.

No need for either, government covers you for 2 weeks with a positive test

I can tell you from experience that a lawsuit =/= having a trial. A lawsuit has to have merit. Suing an at-will employer in an at-will state for being fired over what will ultimately be a handbook / policy violation will be thrown out long before a trial is even discussed.

Eventually most companies will require it. If you quit you're more than likely going to have to take it at some point if you want to be a W2 employee.
