Did you think that way in Jan 2020?

Literally his only hire that has panned out. Congrats.

Know how I know you don’t know what you’re talking about? O didn’t like Aranda and hated his scheme. Aranda staying on was literally a condition of O’s employment.

Because he whiffed on a QB recruit the previous season.

O publicly admitted that he doesn’t interview his hires. This is not what good coaches or managers do.

I am not in the film room with them-I am not at practice-none of us in here are.

LSU is a consistent top-10 program in terms of recruiting. Biggest assistant coaching budgets, and one of the biggest analyst staffs. It just got its arse beat by a Pac12 team that won 10 games the previous three years. O should be fired yesterday for the on and off field issues that have constantly plagued him.

From the moment he was named the interim HC Ed IMMEDIATELY began a campaign to try to get the permanent HC job because he knew he wasn't going to be considered as serious candidate otherwise. His "binder" pitch to Alleva had many pages. But the main aspects re: the staff were he was going to keep Aranda as DC and hire Lane Kiffin away from Bama as OC. O had to keep Aranda. It was part of his hail mary effort to get the job. The promise to deliver Kiffin fell through and he had to scramble to find a "name" to fulfill his campaign promises.

So he hired Matt Canada, a hot name at the time. Three games into Canada's LSU tenure O hated the offense and wanted to get rid of him.

So in 2018 he promotes a guy, Ensminger, who was member of the much maligned Miles offensive staff and who didn't really want the OC job because of the burden it would bring upon him at that stage in his career. Think about it. O had to basically BEG a guy, who had no market demand whatsoever, to be the OC.

Going into 2019 ENSMINGER knew his offense wasn't going to elevate the program to the top of the mountain. (Perhaps is was the ZERO points in 8 quarters vs. Alabama, but who knows?). So ENSMINGER happily requested and accepted help from a young analyst on the Saints staff. And he happily ceded much of the load and designing of the approach to that guy. It worked out brilliantly.

In 2020 O had to replace BOTH coordinators. He was doing so following a remarkable championship season at a school with tremendous resources and the willingness to spend huge money to attract top coaches. With that, Ed hires two guys with virtually ZERO market demand to take the positions. It was wreck.

Following that in 2021 Ed has to, again, hire new coordinators. The FIFTH time he's had to hire an OC in five years. The heat is on to make sure he doesn't miss again on these hires. So what does he do? Hires two guys who have never been D-1 coordinators and who have ZERO market demand for their services as coordinators.

Perhaps Peetz/Jones work out the rest of the year. I certainly hope so. But assuming they don't for the sake of argument then that will make SEVEN coordinator hires Ed will have made in 5 years with only ONE producing great results. Does that sound like a good coach who knows what he is doing? Or does it sound like a guy who is just throwing darts at the board blindly and got incredibly lucky one of his seven darts hit the bullseye with the other 6 either barely hitting the board or missing the board completely?

SE found brady and told Ed to hire him

He was told to offer Joe by…Busch, I think. But he was told too.

He has D. Ponasky looking for and vetting potential hires….his FN pr manager.

He hired Canada without interviewing…he hired Bo without interviewing!

He hired the DC and OC off recommendations…told too again.

Hey, Starkie, it is not January 2020 anymore. We now see Eddie for what he is as a head coach. Incompetent. How do you see it?

Does a good manager promise to hire only the best......

Then hire a has-been with no interview, fire him 1 year later, then hire a replacement with zero experience holding the title he now holds?

as for x's and o's, I am not in the film room with them-I am not at practice-none of us in here are.

After last Saturday, I am not sure most of the coaches are in there either.

You must not have listened to Burrow's account of CEO's relentless pursuit of him and his sealing the deal...

Go back to 2019 and say that in a crowded room full of Rantards.

Also Steve Esminger noticed Brady and begged O to hire him...

After getting our asses handed to us in 2018 Bama game 29-0 Ed and Steve agreed shortly after that game that they had to get outside help to modernize our inept passing game. So I am not figuring out where your "Steve had to beg O to hire him" comes from.

How long do we live on 2019? He's hired what? 5 + assistance since Brady?

Tell me how those hires have worked out

Eta: I would say that it's actually more impressive that Orgeron was ABLE to keep Aranda twice vs deciding to keep him.

Didn't hurt that we paid him an assload of money. While he waited for a good head coaching job to open up
