Other guys had their problems, but these four were the culprits behind that ridiculous defensive display. Time and time again I would see 1-2 of these guys around a play where they are either: slapping the runner, bouncing off the runner, or diving at air.
Too many busted run plays where these guys were not maintaining gap control. The one run Charbonnet had where announcers were losing themselves over, had little to do with him. I barely saw an attempt to tackle. At least when Auburn went against Fournette in 2015, they did everything in their power to try to stop him. These are average/slightly above average RBs. There was nothing impressive about their runs.
That attempt to "tackle" the TE on that 75 yard TD, was just disgusting.
I really hate how we were becoming LBU and now we can't buy a LB to help our arse (and yes I know Toles is not a LB, but he was a part of this awfulness).

our secondary looks like they eat 1 grain of rice a day

I thought Baskerville played well. Can’t say much for Strong other than one of the crossing routes for a TD was on him. Clark and Toles are not good football players.

That was 28 Burns too
But you’re not wrong.

Nah, they're good. Tackling was piss poor though.

The tackling and the angles we took yesterday were flat out horrible

Is S. Jones ready to play? I heard he’s a monster

Baskerville played well on runs and sucked balls on pass coverage. You can’t really say he played well overall. Our linebackers and safeties absolutely look lost on every pass play.

Theme of the night. That TE was on a mission and didn't give a frick if he had to run through the fiery pits of hell to get in the endzone. That was a microcosm of the entire game and is how UCLA played.
LSU players were scared to stub their toe. There's a culture problem here that is well documented and it will not carry over well in these OOC matchups where stakes aren't very high and many players are already gone pecan.

Never thought I’d see the day where an LSU defense was scared as shite to make a tackle. HB7 or Jamal Adams would have been flying at UCLA players head first to bring em down.

Strong was terrible too. Couldn't get to the edge fast enough and he was easily beat when he had to cover somebody.

Major Burns was a MAJOR DISSAPPOINTMENT.
Posted on 9/5/21 at 2:24 pm to Datbayoubengal
Why the frick aren't Major Burns (best off-season safety in LSU history) or Jay Ward and Todd Harris not on your list?
Posted on 9/5/21 at 2:28 pm to hg
Unfortunately when Orgeron said no rice in the gumbo, the team thought it meant everybody.

Harris sucks.
Lsu should've gone after tykee smith or kaufman instead of burns.
Jay ward seemed to get hurt. Wonder if he is going to hold up at safety. He is small.
Need sage and davis is n the field asap. Let them take their licks now.
Just like when i hear people say jacoby mathews doesn't want to come to lsu cause of sage ryan and davis.
Nothing is given. Just like toles is a bust.

The defense appeared to be playing well until Ward came out. Just an observation
Posted on 9/5/21 at 2:29 pm to Bottom9
I thought Ward was OK, at least, I can’t remember anything egregiously bad that he did
Posted on 9/5/21 at 2:31 pm to StupidBinder
Add 94 and 4 to that list
