Sorry if this has already been posted...been busy with cleanup around the house post storm. Who do we think is the potential buyer? There was a pretty long thread when Convent was up for sale and then ultimately shuttered for the time being...

If convent wasn't bought I can't see alliance finding a buyer.

I’ve read that they have a buyer

The potential behind the scene buyer may have second thoughts...that facility had 5 ft. of water over the whole complex during the recent hurricane

Yes...the article says they have a buyer. Didn't know if anyone on here had any scuttlebutt on who that would be?
Many thought Motiva would purchase Convent on here and that hasn't held up yet...

Good to hear.
To be fair that was said about convent for years.

It’s been a while but why would motiva buy convent if they got out of Norco?

When I worked there a few year back, there was a rumor they were shopping the refinery around. That was 7-8 years ago.

Isn't this the one that also has a heavy oil spill into Mississippi after the levee failed? Also, how can they not know who owns the pipe that was broken and is leaking? It seems to me any company would have a pretty damn good idea pretty quickly if the flow rates were dropping due to a leak, even a relatively small one.

Motiva was a JV that broke up.
Saudis took Port Arthur shell took convent and Norco.
I think that's how it went.

You are correct about the joint venture.
But I’m also surprised that Motiva didn’t buy up some refineries in the last three years after the split. Especially before Covid

Pretty sure She’ll is going to repurpose the convent refinery to some other type of facility

The Convent site is strictly a refinery.
The Norco site has both refining and chemical on site and is so intertwined that it can not be divided up easily. Shell owned the chemical and Motiva(Royal Dutch and Saudi Aramco) owned the refinery. I designed several custody transfer stations for transfer from chemical to refining and vice versa.

Gonna show my age, but I remember when it was Gulf Alliance.

I sold a 20MW GE steam turbine generator to them in the late 80's when it was owned by BP

For the company which employed me it sure was. They came from the first municipal waste to energy plant which was on Long Island and had only run for 6 months, then turned regularly for over 10 years. Cost was removal and storage, sold a year later. I have never heard the F word used for every word in a sentence until I went up there to oversee the rigging crew load it onto trucks. They were all from Brooklyn.

Gulf Alliance
I don’t do business with it so it’s just a geographical waypoint for me.
